2025 Australian Masters Cup
2025 Australian Masters Cup
The Brisbane Bayside Pickleball Club has joined with Pickleball Australia to be a part of the inaugural Australian Masters Cup League. Our first match kicks of on Wednesday evening 26 March 2025 at the Wellington Point Tennis Courts.
WHAT IS THE AUSTRALIAN MASTERS CUP?
The Australian Masters Cup (AMC) is an initiative of Pickleball Australia to provide a national pathway for players aged 50+ with a focus and attention being placed on the players participating at a club level to ensure social engagement is front and centre.
PLAYing with a purpose is the philosophy behind building national participation via the AMC and as a result, membership for our club, PAQ, and Pickleball Australia.
"PLAYing pickleball with a purpose"
What is PLAYing with a purpose?
We are all on a continuous journey of mastering the game of pickleball to the best of our ability. As masters of life, mature age pickleball players are motivated by a variety of reasons before stepping onto the pickleball court.
The AMC proposes competing within a supportive club environment where individual and team spirit is on show; building individual's confidence, enriching the experience for both experienced and non-experienced players.
The Australian Masters Cup (AMC) provides a safe, localised, unintimidating environment for players.
WHO CAN PLAY?
Anybody who is a financial member of the Brisbane Bayside Pickleball Club. It does not matter what skill level you have. EVERYONE is encouraged to play and give it a go.
AGE CATEGORIES
In the club competition, all age categories and skill levels will play together as most clubs do not have enough members to split these out separately.
If you progress to Regional/State/National level, then you will play in only your age category.
- 50+ (including anyone turning 50 in 2025)
- 60+
- 70+
At this stage, it will be the top 2 males and females from each age bracket that will make it through to the next level of competition.
DOUBLES OR SINGLES? WHAT GENDER?
All matches are doubles play in a round-robin format (i.e. in a group of 5 or 6 players, you play once with everyone in the group). However, your scores are individually accrued. All matches are co-ed.
WHAT IF I DON'T THINK I AM GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY?
Don't worry! It will be a super-encouranging, fun environment. It is a ladder league, so you go up or down each week depending on your performances, so will be playing others of similar ability.
HOW LONG DOES IT RUN FOR?
It is a 10 week league, but you DON'T have to play all ten. Play once, or play as often as you can.
To qualify to advance to the Regional Finals you must however play a minimum of five out of the ten weeks.
WHERE WILL WE PLAY?
Wellington Point Tennis Courts - Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:30PM.
The first match will kick off on Wednesday 26 March 2025.
